Zimbabwe’s batsman Charles Coventry equaled Pakistan’s former openerĀ Saeed Anwar’s record highest individual one-day international score of 194, but it was not enough for Zimbabwe as Bangladesh claimed a series-clinching victory.
Zimbabwe piled up 312 for eight in the fourth ODI in Bulawayo, but Bangladesh chased down the total with 2.1 overs to spare.
Tamim Iqbal led with way with 154 as Bangladesh reached 313 for six to move 3-1 ahead in the series with one match to play.
Earlier, Coventry cracked 16 fours and seven sixes in an unbeaten 156-ball innings.
The former Pakistan opener Anwar’s record had stood for 12 years, and Coventry equalled the feat with his maiden international hundred.
His team-mates contributed little, though, Stuart Matsikenyeri’s 37 the second-highest score.
Iqbal hit eight fours and six sixes as he too bludgeoned an impressive century in Bangladesh’s reply, eventually falling to Ray Price, who took three wickets.
But Mohammad Mahmudullah saw the tourists home with an unbeaten 21 from 11 balls.
